Course Description Guide

English III

The first quarter of English III is advanced composition which is designed to teach students to write formal research papers.  The rest of the year focuses on literature and is designed to teach students how to think in terms of people and ideas.  Types of American literature discussed are history; science fiction; possible and alternative futures; and war, with its emphasis on human actions and reactions.

Speech

    This practical course is designed to give the student basic background of concepts pertaining to oral communication, how to write a speech as well as how to deliver a speech.  The first quarter explores the oral communication concepts and process. The second quarter is the application of the concepts through the presentation of an informative speech, persuasive speech and oral interpretation.
