Sutton Public Schools is a Class III school that is accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education. The school is a member of the Southern Nebraska Conference that includes: Centennial, David City, Fillmore Central, Thayer Central, Heartland, Milford, Sandy Creek, Superior, Sutton, Tri-County, Wilber-Clatonia, and Wymore Southern.
The District is governed by a six-member Board of Education. Each member is selected for a four year term. Board members must be residents of School District #2 and each member serves the district with no compensation for their services. The Board of Education holds a regular meeting on the third Monday of each month. Board meetings are normally held in the board room, which is located in the Superintendent’s office. All board meetings are open to the public and are advertised according to state open meeting laws. Public notice of meetings is placed in the Clay County News. Current board members are: Ty Yost-president, Neal Schlautman-vice president, Carol Waddell-secretary, and members Sara Nuss, Mark Bailey, and Mike Thompson.
